Grants
The Trust welcomes enquiries and applications for grants and loans from Christian churches of all denominations who are members of ‘Churches Together in England’ for work to preserve, maintain or repair the fabric of the church, including modification for disabled access.
Funds are raised principally through the Ride and Stride, as well as through Membership subscriptions and donations. We also manage a generous grant of £25,000 from Hampshire County Council which we administer on their behalf.
In 2022 seven churches received a total of £40,500 in grants. Also, to-date we have offered £134,000 in grants for future work.
Grants Newsletters: Spring 2022, Summer 2022
It is important that those wishing to apply for a grant or loan should study carefully our Terms & Conditions. Please note in particular that no grants are paid in respect of work which has already started before approval is given. The Grants sub-committee carefully considers each request before making recommendations to the Executive Committee. The Grants Committee Meetings dates for 2023 are 6 February, 5 June, and 2 October. Please try to ensure that any application is received at least two weeks before the meeting. Terms & Conditions.
The church of St Peter and St Paul, Hambledon, has most kindly provided us with a document ‘Lessons Learned’ which churches considering new projects may find helpful.
We support the carrying out of regular maintenance, instituting an annual maintenance programme and recording all works carried out in a logbook. The Society for the Protection of Ancient Buildings Faith in Maintenance initiative offers free advice, training and useful documents. You can find more information at www.spab.org.uk/.
